About Leo

Leo is a 2-3 year old, 33 lb., neutered male Pomeranian/Husky ('Pomsky') mix searching for his furever family. He recently arrived in Harrisburg, PA from Jasper, AL and is adjusting to life indoors as part of a family. Prior to being rescued in Alabama, Leo had a ruff start in life as part of a puppy mill with little to no socialization locked in a crate day and night. While timid, he's not reactive or aggressive to any of the new stimulus he's being introduced to. A patient and understanding adoptive family would be ideal for him; one that is able to give him direction and lots of positive reassurance. He finds comfort following other dogs that can lead the way for him to see what is safe in their environment. He shares a home with a cat and they live together without issue. He rides well in the car. Leo has been living in a home for two weeks now and has done a rockstar job of conquering his initial fears. He now walks instead of freezes when a leash is attached to his collar, and he mastered entering/exiting the door of the home independently. He also learned when he boops the bells with his nose, a hooman quickly arrives to open the door. He just recently began playing with toys, and so far the ball is his favorite. He also recently discovered couch cuddles and excitedly requests them when evening time arrives since that's the time of day his foster family started socializing him in the living room on furniture. He is incredibly smart and thrives with routine. In the next few weeks, he will be introduced to more rooms in the house and will continue working to master stairs and potty training. He's about 75% of the way with both. He is still pretty nervous when we initially reach for him, but we think he will overcome this with time and consistent positive experiences. From 2 or more years of constant crate life to 2 weeks living in a home, we are proud of his progress. We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate.
