About Rugar

Ruger is a 5 yr. old, 80 lb., Treeing Walker Coonhound. He was believed to have been a hunting dog who was found as a stray. Ruger is a sweet, lovable boy who loves to cuddle with his foster parents and gets along very well with other dogs! He is a toy thief and may try to take another dogs bone, so a tolerant dog and parents to help him learn this isn't allowed would be best. He is HIGHLY food motivated and would do best enjoying toys and food in his own area, as he will go steal seconds. He adores kids and is very gentle with our 6 and 12 year old granddaughters, and loves every human he comes across! Because of his intense prey drive, we do not believe Ruger would be best for a home with smaller animals (cats, birds, guinea pigs, etc). This beautiful boy seems to have missed his puppyhood, so is just learning to play and be a dog. He is a little awkward and goofy and such a joy to be around.
