About Phyllis

Sweet Phyllis aka Philly aka Waddles is ready for adoption! This loveable, goofy gal has been with us for about 8 weeks and is in much better condition now than she was when she first came in. Despite living all five years of her life in a puppy mill, she is so friendly and absolutely loves everyone. Since she is an English Bulldog (EB) she has the typical EB issues that will require lifelong management. Her skin around her neck, belly and tail pocket was very red and irritated, but with regular baths it is clearing up and she is looking & feeling so much better! She is being treated for ear infections. It is possible this could be a recurring issue in the future, possibly due to allergies. She has had surgery on both eyes to correct entropion (eyelashes turning inward). Due to the large amount of skin she has on her face/neck, it is possible she may need another surgery in the future if the skin/eyelids start to roll back in again. She has grade 1 patellar luxation. This means that the kneecap in her back legs pops in and out. We have been working on weight loss and exercise to help with this. She will need to maintain a healthy weight to keep undue stress on her legs. She knows how to use a dog door, but as with many former mill mommas she likes to pee on rugs/carpet in the house. I have some washable pee pads I keep in a couple strategic locations and she uses those. She loves going on walks, playing with toys, rolling around on her back, and eating! She is playful and loveable like a golden retriever stuck in the body of an English bulldog. Don't be in a hurry when taking her for a walk - she is quite slow. She can handle about �%BC of a mile once or twice a day. She has a naughty side and occasionally will see what she can find to chew on. We have provided her with plenty of chew toys and when gets something in her mouth that she should have, she does very well with correction and we give her an approved chew toy. She doesn't care for being a crate. She spent her life in one and doesn't want to be in one again. She has free roam of the house and sleeps most of the day. She prefers a comfy dog bed or snuggling with a blanket on the couch. At night she sleeps on the couch, I am sure in case we need some protection ���S Phyllis is the sweetest & goofiest girl and will give all her love to the person that is willing to show her a good life. Her future family must be willing to work with all the 'issues' that I have described. She is a bulldog and the chances of her changing are very slim.
