A 5 year old 1/2 Blue Heeler 1/2 Bull Terrier girl. Reba would be an excellent foster-to-adopt candidate as she will require time to settle into a new home and will give her the chance to properly acclimate. Reba would make a great dog if you are looking to get into training/have experience working with dogs. She is a smart dog! When properly motivated she can pick up a new trick in minutes. She walks nicely on leash and stays by your side. She enjoys playing with other dogs, big and small, and does well with cats. She loves a game of fetch or tug but only for a little bit, she isn't constantly asking for playtime. She would make a great running partner! She would make a good sport dog prospect and would excel at agility or something similar. She is 100% potty trained. She is an excellent cuddle buddy. Can be a bit of a Velcro dog but will do her own thing on occasion. Not destructive, doesn't rip up bedding or toys. She bonds very strongly with her inner circle. She loves being brushed with a rubber brush. Does well for nail trims, baths, and ear cleanings. While she may be smart, she does get bored with lots of repetitions. She is very food & treat motivated but has to practice being gentle when taking them otherwise she might take a finger with her. She does have a lot of herding tendencies so a home with small children is not recommended and can occasionally upset other dogs that don't play as rough as she does. She is crate trained and will go nap in her crate voluntarily but tends to argue with you when you tell her to go in. She is very talkative and with let you know when she wants something; attention, playtime, your spot on the couch. She doesn't love to go out in the rain or cold, so sometimes needs a boost out the door. Can be a bit reactive when meeting a new dog but after a moment she is ready to play. She knows her basic commands, just depends on if she is motivated enough to do them when asked. She requires to have structure, boundaries, and consistency in the home and from her people. Reba is wary of new people, I recommend allowing her time to adjust to new people on her own terms; no baby talk, eye contact, or petting her until she is ready. When she is overstimulated (new environment with new people) she may get snappy. The vet is not her friend and typically wears a muzzle for exams. If given the opportunity, she likes to unload the bathroom trash cans. Keep bathroom doors closed/trash cans out of reach/use baby gates.
