About Charlie

Say hello to Charlie! Charlie is around 5 years old. We got him from the shelter 3 years ago. He was estimated to be around age 2. I am rehoming him because I feel that he needs someone that is more active and can give him the exercise he needs and deserves. He is a good dog but because he doesn't get exercise, he barks at every passing person or car. When we got him from the shelter, he had severe hip dysplasia, but we got him bilateral FHO surgery to correct it and his hips will never be perfect, but it doesn't stop him from anything he wants to do. After surgery we were told to exercise him so we made the mistake of giving him a laser light to chase paired with walks and unfortunately it has caused some ocd so he likes to chase shadows and reflections. I also feel that with exercise and some training he can overcome. He has gotten better with it though. While he may need some training, he is a very sweet boy with a gentle and sensitive soul. He is a great protector and excellent with kids. He is also great with other dogs and cats. He is about 75-80 pounds. I want Charlie to be with people who will understand that his life hasn't been great, will give him exercise that he needs, and will love him enough to train him and see his sweet soul. It hurts me so much to rehome him, but I want what's best for him and for him to have the life he deserves. I suffer from depression, and I have kids that have sports every day of the work week and some weekends along with a full-time job. It just isn't fair to him. Please consider adding Charlie to your family. He isn't perfect. He can be stubborn, but if your nice and patient with him he will do what you want. His feelings do get hurt if he is yelled at. He is very smart though. He has so much to offer!
