About Jasper

Meet Jasper! Jasper was rescued out in the middle of nowhere with his mama and sister, Jade. He is a handsome guy and highly intelligent. Jasper is one year old and weighs around 70 lbs, and is not yet done growing. Jasper clearly had been around humans before coming to us and is very curious and wants to be loved. However, it is obvious he was not handled much. He has some separation anxiety, especially when separated from his 'pack,' and seems to do better with women (although he is learning to trust men more). He will need time and patience to warm up to being handled by someone new, but he truly is a sweet boy at heart. He can be very submissive (towards humans as well) when he is with his pack; however once separated, he becomes anxious and nippy. He does enjoy being around people and wants to trust and be loved. Jasper is very curious, eats gently from your hand, and is working on leash training (and doing well with it!). He is also crate trained for sleeping at night. Jasper does not get along well with just any dog. He will do better around dogs that are calm and confident. He is very co-dependent so will need patience as he will need a big adjustment period to acclimate. He has been exposed to cats and has shown no signs of aggression towards them. Jasper has been around older children as well and is gentle and curious. As with any dog, slow introductions with small children and other pets are essential. Like most German Shepherds, this breed needs mental stimulation and room to burn energy. Jasper is not an 'apartment dog,' rather he will need a good size yard with a secure fence and someone that can handle a working dog breed. Please, only apply if you can give Jasper a fur-ever home.
