This beautiful Border Collie is Charlie. He was born in mid-June, 2020, and weighs about 45-50 pounds. Charlie is a smart guy and learns fast. He knows sit, heel, go to your crate, and waits for his dinner. He has also learned his left and right spins. He was started on his training with a clicker, but also learns without one. Charlie is house and crate trained. Charlie is good on leash and good in the car, so would make a good travel companion. Charlie enjoys a good game of fetch. He also has lots of stamina so would be a good hiking companion. According to our training partner, he could be a good sports prospect for nosework, herding, obedience, agility, or fastcat. Charlie is good with quiet, respectful dogs and isn't much of a 'play with others' guy. He is more is a coexist kind of guy when it comes to other dogs. Charlie is naturally reticent, taking time to warm up to new people. However, once you are part of his social circle, he is very devoted. He loves to get pets from his people. Charlie's prior home had people in and out more often than works for Charlie. This boy prefers a quiet home, where people appreciate his tentative nature. At our training facility, he has warmed right up to be friendly with all of the staff. As with most herders, Charlie prefers a polite introduction, or to be put away so that he isn't nervous with the handyman or gardener. His prior home was quite busy with contractors coming and going, making him nervous, and he did nip a couple of these strangers in his nervousness. This is so easy to manage if he is just put away while these types of strangers visit. Charlie is a dog who needs someone who understands herders and is a good leader. He needs a home who wants to do something with him more than a short walk and yard time. For that kind of home, he is such a gem. Charlie is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is ready to meet qualified adopters who can meet and adopt in SoCal. We do not ship our dogs.
