CODE RED/X URGENT-SAVVY FOSTER NEEDED FOR A RESCUE -OAKLAND SHELTER FULL and GAVE DEADLINE FOR FRIENDLY COLTON to be SAVED! Please help us find a savvy foster (or foster to adopt) and rescue for this handsome, friendly boy named Colton who was listed as a chow mix, but seems to be or have some other spitz breed, possibly some jindo, husky, finnish spitz, akita, shiba inu, or any combo of these. The shelter has described Colton as fuzzy and adorable, and mentioned he shows his beautiful smile and leans in for scratches. He did well on his recent dog test we have video to watch his interaction with both a female and then male dog of similar size who he enjoyed playing with: https://youtu.be/_maZRxBOEWA. He also did well with a small dog he was tested with. Colton was actually adopted twice, the first home returned him because they were allergic, and the second home said he did not do well their small dog and gave us a lot of good information. They said, 'He is a sweet, loyal, affectionate dog with his humans. He is very smart, and extremely food motivated. He can learn, and thrive with the right family who can give him a good start. He needs to start off with a bigger, low energy dog or as an only dog. He loved playing with our pittie, and was a good sport. He would even lay on the ground to give her a fair chance! He is very eager to be loved and will follow you everywhere around the house, even lying behind you while you do dishes and lay on your feet. He just needs time to destress from his shelter experience and patience. He is am amazing dog with lots of potential . Once he gets to love you, he will roll all over you and want you to give him all the cuddles everywhere!' Because the adopter had a 5 lb dog, they did not feel it was safe however, and they returned him to the shelter. The shelter says he is a nice dog but feels he became kennel stressed after being back at the shelter for a third time. Colton is estimated to be 6 years young and just over 60 lbs, but he actually looks and moves about like he is slightly younger and may very well be. Colton was neutered about a month ago. If you can foster or foster adopt, or rescue, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network, who is trying to assist with his placement.
