About Ambi

Meet Ambi! Ambi is a German Shepherd mix, roughly 3 years old and 83 lbs. She was found with her pup, Bear, about 20 miles out of town by two ladies that happened to be visiting from another state. This girl is an absolute sweetie and LOVES people. Adults, kids...loves them all. She is house broken, crate trained and super chill. She loves to be outside and is active (but not hyper) and can be VERY athletic. She has a long body and can scale a 6' kennel with ease. She does enjoy going on long runs, so giving her an area where she can full out run every so often, makes her happy. However, she is calm inside the house. She does not jump up on counters and obeys pretty darn well. She is a pleaser! This beauty came to us knowing basic commands like sit, lay down, down ... and had leash work. However, she is a big girl and very strong - she does like to pull sometimes but is overall great on a leash. As a bonus, Ambi also loves car rides! Ambi does well with cats; if she is unsure of a kitty, she will just avoid it until trust has been established between them. Once she realizes they aren't going to hurt her, she becomes curious and warms up to them. As for other canines, Ambi would likely be great with a confident, non-assertive, laid-back dog - like an older, very chill dog. Ambi does not care for loud, yappy or boisterous dogs. She is not aggressive; but she definitely tries to avoid them. While she is not much for physically playing with other canines, she does well just being in the company of other dogs that respect her space. I can't say enough about this sweet, beautiful, gentle girl. She would make a wonderful family dog or companion for someone with a lot of time on their hands. Ambi is smart, easy to train, gentle mouthed, and usually listens well! Ambi is not an 'apartment dog,' rather she will need access to an outdoor area that is well secured to burn energy. Having said this, she does great in the house. She is respectful of indoor spaces and is not overly excited while inside. Ambi is fearful of loud noises - thunder, blenders, food processors and vacuums specifically. Yelling across the house to someone can also startle her. She is not overly fond of water either, so bathing would take some patience and time. However, she does do well being brushed. Please, only apply if you can give Ambi a forever home.
