About Max

He is an extremely good dog. He knows all his basic commands (sit, down, kennel, outside, ride, treat, bedtime) He loves being out doors (hiking/swimming) He is also an escape artist will Hop a 5 foot fence no problem- but really just wants to check the neighborhood and come back. It happens almost everyday. He is loyal- and affectionate, and good with all people and older kids. The problem is my younger kid. I have a 2 year old that has been patient with him and he snapped at him and and caught him on the face. I was watching the whole interaction and my son didn't do anything that warranted the behavior. He was just petting his face. He really doesn't like smaller kids. It's the first and only time for me. He also growled at my friends 5 year old- similar situation. That being said- he is being watched- leashed, any small child can pet him or love on him. Just alone seems to be the problem. I really don't understand it. Usually- he's really good with other dogs. However- when my female husky passed away, we got a German shepherd- who is amazing with my kids and family and other dogs. Max cannot stand him. They fight constantly. He guards his Kennel. He guards his food. All kinds of issues. He would be good in house with other passive dogs. It is with a heavy heart I'm sending this email- because we love him. I've had him since birth. He's been fully vaccinated in the past- but he will need a bordatella and updated rabies. It's been awhile. I have airtagged him on his collar- again because he is a roamer (it can be kept by you) He is also not microchipped. I can do that for you guys before surrendering if needed. Please help me in finding a good fit for him. He's really a great dog and I haven't had issues with him ever before the incident with my son.
