Meet Archie ***Must be willing to work with Archie, have patience and experience with Resource Guarding around food as well as bite inhibition.*** Archie is curently in a foster situation however needs a new situation asap. Archie is an almost 2 year old male who ended up at the Seattle Animal Shelter-and it wasn't his first time! But this time his owners didn't come get him (they were contacted) and the shelter contacted rescue. This boy is EXUBERANT - a sweet, friendly, good looking guy, he's got a lot under the hood - lots of energy, lots of drive, but not a lot of impulse control. He's not aggressive in a mean way, but has obviously had some neglect in the training and manners department. He's a sponge for attention, and will snuggle for days. He's good with the kiddos and can be gentle, but is easily overstimulated, so needs to be supervised with kids under 12. Archie is interested in other dogs, but again, gets overstimulated very quickly. He doesn't seem like he's had a lot of socialization with other dogs, and comes on like a freight train. When the other dog says 'whoa, dude, not so fast' it can quickly escalate into something NOT resembling play. The foster has seen with a proper introduction and taking it slow with a lot of supervision, he can do well with a dog who matches his energy level and playfulness. He is crate trained, but hates to be crated. A guess is that he was confined to a crate for long periods of neglect. He is doing okay with house training, and prefers to go outside, but is watched closely so he doesn't mark in the house. Archie rides well in the car (loves car rides) and was a perfect gentleman when left for a very short period in the car while his foster mom ran into a store. He is great on walks, he wears a harness and walks beautifully with a loose leash. He's interested in other dogs when on his walks, but not displaying reactivity, and responds well to redirection and engagement. And about that engagement - how big is your lap? This boy is SO affectionate. He can't get close enough and craves affection. This boy is truly a diamond in the ruff - he wants so much to be someone's best boy, and while there will be some work to get him 'civilized' he's so eager to please, and food motivated, that the training will be fun and the transformation spectacular. ***Must Have Breed and/or Working Dog Experience and Be Willing to Work With Archie***
