About Tao

Overall, Tao is a wonderful boy. He was adopted as a kitten from a New York shelter and grew to an impressive 18-20 pounds. Tao has a huge personality - he is super talkative (he chirps!), loving and social. He is an adept bug hunter, loves to lay in the sun, loves catnip scratchpads and 'making biscuits' (kneading) on cozy blankets. Tao has diabetes and is on a twice-daily dose of injected insulin. Requiring two shots a day, on a regular schedule, means that Tao requires a home with a ton of stability. Unfortunately, our situation has changed and because of work travel and extremely hectic schedules, Tao is having accidents outside of his litter box when we leave the house for longer periods of time. We feel he would be much happier and healthier in a home with more stability and with someone who can provide a very regular schedule with lots of attention. Currently, Tao is on Prozinc insulin U-40 (5 units 2x/day). This amounts to ~$50-$100/month for his medication and related medical supplies. Tao is an indoor cat but loves time outside - he explores our fenced yard and enjoys supervised time outside whenever possible. He loves to wander on our porch, catch bugs, and listen to the birds. He never wanders far. He is snuggly and loves his pets, but also playful and feisty. He has one of the loudest purrs I've ever heard. Tao does well with our two dogs (both 50+ lbs) and with other cats. He has never had an issue with kids.
