About Jackson

Hi! My name is Jackson. I am a very good (great) boy who is in need of a new home. I love the outdoors, running around, and also a good snuggle if you're into that. I *love* people and people love me! They say I'm pretty silly and sweet - and also incredibly cute. When I'm happy I smile! I am great with cats and other dogs, though can get a little excited at first to meet new friends (who doesn't!?). I've been with my family for about 7 years since I was a puppy. Right now I live with another dog and three cats, and while I've been very happy, my human family has begun to grow - and it turns out I don't do well with babies. They don't understand dog etiquette and they scare me a lot, so I act defensively, and unfortunately, in one case nipped/bit. With a one-year-old and now another on the way, it has become clear to my family that finding me a new home without children is the right thing to do for all involved. They are very, very sad. And while I don't understand what is going on, I know I am going to have a hard time with this too. I am looking for the right home with someone who will be loving and patient with me during this transition, and in return, I will offer all of my love, (snuggles if you like them,) and lots of loyalty! Note from Jackson's family: We are heartbroken to be posting our family member. There has been much deliberation and trying to find alternative solutions (ie. trying to keep Jackson on the property without contact with the baby). However - those options aren't proving to be fair or kind to him in the way he deserves. We know he deserves to find the right, loving home without children where he can thrive and be himself. He is so sweet and so happy, and we adore him. Any adult household would be lucky to have him. We are open to a foster-to-adopt situation so that whoever is interested can take the time to get to know him, and has the freedom to return him if things don't work out.
