About URGENT! Rory&Lorelai

American Staffordshire Terrier / American Bulldog
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

URGENT Need a hero!! Lorelai (about 6) and her daughter Rory (about 5),are a bonded pair of 'pocket pittie mixes' and the sweetest pups you'll ever meet.Lorelai was kept in an outside 6 x 6 kennel on a chain and bred constantly. When they were old enough to be bred, two of her puppies were kept in the kennel with her and bred. The owner abandoned them and left them in the 'care' of someone across the street.Still kept in outside kennel, still on a chain, barely fed, bring neglected and now abused. The 'caretaker' hit Lorelai with a 2 x 4 and knocked her unconscious. Amazing she survived but then she then had to endure witnessing the brutal torture, mutilation and subsequent death of one of her daughters. Rory nd Lorelai managed to dig out to safety,a good samaritan took them to the county shelter. At the shelter they were seperated, this affected them both, emotionally, physically and psychologically. The shelter had Lorelai on the kill list due to her deteriorating condition. Her condition had deteriorated due to the trauma she herself had endured, and the heartbreak of watching her daughter being brutally killed. Lorelai survived because she still had Rory. Now seperated in the shelter, a rescue stepped up and got them both out.The girls became stronger and healthier because they were back together. The girls have had to rely on each other their entire lives, they survived abuse and neglect only because they were together. Usually littermates are seperated early on,they are able to forge their own personalities but in this situation, this did not happen, the girls spent all of their lives, chained up together in a 6 x 6 outdoor kennel with no protection from the elements, abused themselves and witnessed abuse. The only thing they truly developed was the need to survive. For these very reasons, the girls cannot be seperated, they must be adopted together. Temp foster found, Rory had been fine with all other dogs before she experienced the trauma but now unsure of other dogs, very protective of Lorelai. Evident quickly that Lorelai and Rory need to be in a home without other dogs, at least initially. Foster started working on manners and said Rory is very food motivated, an absolute dream and very responsive to training, picks things up quickly. Moved to another foster where Dad worked from home but after 2 mths, his work required him to travel constantly, no designated fenced yard meant move to another foster quickly.Girls have been through so much, yet they are resilient, incredibly sweet and endlessly loving. But the outside world is still a little too scary for them,Rory is on alert all the time to protect her Mama. They spent all of their lives making decisions together,in most cases life/death decisions. Need to build a foundation where they feel their human who will take the lead, guide them, keep them safe from danger, can make the decisions, so they can relax, receive all of the love and attention they deserve. We need to find the girls their forever home together, without other dogs, or small children. A home in a quieter non-urban environment, with easy in/out access to a fenced yard, and either one level living or few stairs, would be ideal. We do think that with time, patience, a structured routine with a human who can continue to guide them as their pack leader, that Rory would not only get on with other dogs but really enjoy playing with them. The Girls would love to have a human who hangs out at home a lot! They are fully housetrained, but they just love having company and snuggles! Rory has an endless amount of loving energy. She enjoys long walks, chew toys, and being the center of attention. Golden-eyed Lorelai, aka 'Mama', complements Rory's energy with her calm demeanor. She wants nothing more than to snuggle on that very neat invention she discovered very quickly, called a couch! She's adept at finding sunny spots to snooze and seeks a life of relaxation and belly rubs. She is so easygoing, unbothered by most everything and more than content to watch the world go by. Lorelai and Rory really, really, really LOVE car rides! They are funny, playful, affectionate, complete snuggle bunnies, and love snoozing soundly on their beds, sofas, anything soft really! These furbabies have been through so much, yet their capacity to love everyone they meet, and their zest for life, is just truly beyond amazing.
