About Skyshi

Siberian Husky / Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Hello, I am trying to rehome my dog, Skyshi. She is in Kansas, but I recently moved, and we close on the Kansas house December 20th at the latest, so I need to find her a home ASAP. I have no place to keep her where I live now. FREE. NO rehoming fee Name: Skyshi (Pronounced 'Sky-shy') * Gender: Female Breed: Half purebred Siberian Husky, half pitbull. Age: 5 years old Spayed: Yes Housetrained: No Crate trained: No Indoor/Outdoor: Outdoor NOT friendly to cats, chickens, or any small animal Skyshi has lived outdoors her whole life, in a pen unless someone was outside with her. She has a TON of energy. I don't think I have ever truly worn her out. She would be great for someone who wants a dog that can keep up on long walks/runs. She is wonderful with the people in my family. She has been raised with a big family, ranging from me, 20 when I got her, to teenagers, elementary age, and younger than elementary age. She may get a little over-enthusiastic at times, but she has always been very friendly and affectionate with the family. As for people outside the family, she is nervous around strangers and people visiting our property. She has always lived in the country, and hasn't been socialized enough with people outside the family. She will bark very loudly when someone comes over. However, she is scared, not truly aggressive. She has never bitten or attacked anyone. I had started taking her to the park, lake, and farmers market. She was nervous, but getting more comfortable, and even let a young kid pet her. Some people she is more nervous with than others. And she can definitely tell when someone has a gun on them, which will make her nervous. She is a big scaredy cat really- has been startled by a flock of quail before and took off in the other direction. Don't expect her to be a bird dog. xD But really, she is very friendly, and if someone slowly socialized her regularly, I think she would become just fine with people. She interacts well with our family dog, a male border collie mix. She is playful and play fights with him, although he is less interested in playing with her. She has not interacted with dogs other than that. She was interested in playing with a dog at the park once, but she did not know how to 'play nice' and got rough too quickly, frightening the other dog. She is very trainable though, and I think if someone slowly introduced her to other dogs, she would love to play with them! As before stated, she is NOT cat friendly. We had cats on our property, and while she was trained using a shock collar to not attack them when someone was with her, she would and did kill them if she got a hold of them when she was on her own. I do NOT recommend her for anyone who wants a calm, indoor dog. Due to her energy, how much she sheds, and her tendency to chew on things, especially when bored, she is not suited to indoor living. And she wouldn't be happy being inside all day. But she is a beautiful, affectionate, friendly dog towards her people. *She's named for the sky and 'shi' for the first 3 letters of shine, as in sunshine. :)
