About Mowgli

Bengal
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Golden, CO Mowglie is a four-year-old, SUPER smart and active brown-rosetted Bengal cat with a TON of personality. When his owners brought him home, he was quite timid and shy, and showed some signs of anxiety. They worked to gain his trust, and showed him that he had every reason to feel loved and wanted. Mowglie's family loves him dearly and they are very experienced pet owners. But unfortunately, there is something that is triggering him in the home, and he is definitely asking for a change of venue. Currently Mowglie is living in a 3,000 square foot home, with two cats and a dog. He loves the humans but it appears that he wants to be the King of the Castle. Pretty much like most Bengal cats who arrive in rescue. Mowglie absolutely LOVES loves to be carried on his owner's shoulder (unusual for sure!). Mowglie will follow her outside and beg her to play chase with him. He absolutely is the sweetest and most HANDSOME loving cat. Mowglie is not very chatty, but he loves talking with the owner when she talks to him. He loves his cat tree, and often will sleep on it. Mowglie lives with 2 other cats and a dog. He also has 9 year old and 5 year old children in the home. His owner says that he is extremely tolerant and loving towards them. That said, most of the rescue Bengals in our program do better in homes with children who are 10-years-old and up, and who have been taught proper handling techniques and will be able to respect his wishes. Mowgli's family tells us that he is also great with their chickens and Guinea pig, and has a low 'prey drive.' Mowgli does get along with other cats but only if they are first introducing as kittens, so he probably would need a home where he is the only cat. We believe he would be okay with a cat-friendly dog that pays no attention to him. The reason that the family believes their home is not right for him, is the fact that he has started to pee outside his box and all around the perimeter of the house. The owners have been trying everything to help him stop this behavior. He was tested for UTI's and tested negative. At this point they thought maybe he has FLUTD (read more about that here) https://bengalrescue.org/resources/litter-box-issues/ so they put him on behavioral medication hoping that would give him the help he needed. It usually is effective. Upon our advice, Mowgli's owners boarded him while they cleaned the whole house. While at the boarding facility, he didn't even ONCE pee outside the litter box. Sadly, once he was finally back in the home, he started right up again. It is obvious that there is something in the house is causing him some stress; this is why his family is wanting to rehome him. They love him dearly and want him to find peace and have his best life. Mowglie is not harness or leashed-trained but he has been outside under supervision of the owner. He is up to date on his vaccinations, and is neutered but not microchipped.
