About Sarge

I am writing through tear filled eyes as I ask if anyone would be open their hearts to our sweet boy. He is a 7 year old male shepherd and neutered. He is an amazing house dog and my husband's best friend. They go everywhere together, and we have had him for almost 7 years. The issue we are having with him is that we have recently had a baby and he has been very disrespectful around her. He has never displayed any aggressive behavior with adults, but up until this point he has never been around children to our knowledge. We have 3 other shepherds who all get along with her fine, (he only gets along with one and in short spurts one other) Sarge seems to be the only one with an issue and at this point, we are nervous for our daughter and as much as we love him want to shut the problem down before it gets very serious. We have worked with a professional trainer and at this point he agrees with rehoming him. It breaks our heart as he was our first and is a huge part of our family, but our daughter's safety must come first. Unfortunately, time is important as my husband is going away for work for 3 days next week and at this point I am not comfortable having him in the house with the baby, and keeping him locked up all the time around her is no quality of life for him at this point. So if we can not find him a suitable home by Monday, we have no choice but to put him down. He has been professionally obedience trained (although I am sure he is a bit rusty). He is completely house and crate trained. He just loves laying around on the couch an hanging with his people. He does also like to play and has energy to do so but again in short spurts lol. He is kinda lazy at heart. We will also have a contract to sign and a clause that states if for whatever reason whoever adopts him can't keep him or there is every an issue, we will take him back immediately. Sarge is part of our family and it kills us to let him go, but the circumstances require him to be rehomed.
