About Mister

Mister is an American Pit Bull Terrier mix who is just under 7 years old. He is good with other dogs and is tolerant but he can play a bit rough so his playmates should be well suited to his style. Mister is an awesome dog who is mostly a big goof with a lot of love to give. He was adopted by a family who thought he was phenomenal, but came back to WCHS when their landlord found that the insurance did not cover dogs. Mister can be a tad pushy when first meeting a new dog, but if the other dog has good energy, a similar play-style, and a similar size they could be really good buddies. He will definitely need to meet any potential housemate before making any commitments to ensure they can live in tranquility. Mister's family could include gentle and respectful children of any age but remember he is a large strong boy, so when he is with tiny tots they should always be supervised; he loves people but does not always remember how big he is. Mister was fabulous with the neighbor kids in his previous home. He was also working on becoming bell-trained to go out for potty breaks; it would be great to continue that skill. And when he was alone for 1-2 hours at a time, he did not have any accidents or get into any trouble. He did well off leash when there were not any distractions. Mister is excellent with all sorts of handling and truly enjoys fanny and neck scratches and tender pats and massages. He weighs about 82 pounds so he may be a smidge too big for your lap but he would certainly be proud to have a spot by your side. He is a smart lad and already knows the cues for 'sit', 'down' and 'shake/paw'; he is sure to increase his repertoire of cues with your patient and positive guidance; maybe you can take some classes together to increase his skill set. Mister is a quick study who could excel at nose-work, touch, or tricks training. He is searching for a family who will provide plenty of physical and mental exercise every day; he is an energetic and athletic boy who would love a job or two to keep busy, engaged and out of mischief. But at the end of a fun-filled day, he is sure to be a cuddle-bug in the evenings. Mister enjoys playing fetch and is quite the soccer player; he loves to carry toys around before he surgically removes the squeakers. He also does really well on walks and could be a great jogging partner when the weather is not too hot because he mostly ignores things when out and about with you; unless, of course, a squirrel runs by. He is affectionate, obedient, loyal, and friendly; he also has a silly and clownish side which is sure to keep you smiling.
