About Birch

Meet Birch, a 3 year, 22 lb,male Dachshund/Chi mix currently in a Boston, Mass shelter Birch is in need of a long term foster or Adopter. He was found and brought to a Texas shelter where he sadly spent 45 days ignored with zero human contact. Now here in Ma, this sweet boy is looking for an adult-only home with a patient owner in a quiet location where he will be the center of your world. Birch is a little ball of love whose favorite activities include playing with toys, fetching a stick and snuggling. He is lower energy and happy to be your winter cuddle buddy. Birch knows basic obedience commands,does well in the car for short rides and is leash trained though could use further education. His dislikes include road trips and dog parks. Birch is familiar with the crate but does bark when inside one. He is house trained though does use pee pads when left out of the crate. Birch does have a fear of new humans and will require slow introduction.He also experiences anxiety and so is currently on Prozac to help manage.Birch requires a quiet home with no children or other pets and infrequent visitors. He is looking for an owner who understands how to manage his fear and his needs. A home where he will have the time to learn what it means to feel secure and loved.
