About Daisy

American Eskimo Dog / German Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Hi everyone, I'm Daisy! I need your help. I'm looking for a new forever home. I was left behind in a yard when the family that had me in their possession moved. A couple in the neighborhood came to my aid when they saw that I was scared, shutdown, thin and hungry. I was infested with fleas and had some open sores on my body. I needed medical attention and TLC. They didn't want to take me to an overcrowded shelter, as I may not get the second chance I deserve. A nice man met me and committed to helping me. He got me in a foster home with a really loving couple. They bathed me, gave me medicine for my fleas, wounds and now give me yummy nutritious food & treats. I'm currently bunking with them while they get me back into a better place physically and mentally. It's working! I'm not feeling shutdown anymore and I see that there are humans who really care. About me: I'm approximately 8 or 9 years old. I'm very mellow but still like to have fun. I love to go on walks, I like going to the beach and I've even been to a dog park. I'm just learning about toys. I love being around people and love to be cozy at home and sleeping in my new dog bed. I'm really pretty easy and will make someone(s) an excellent companion. I even know how to sit for treats (I LOVE treats!) My foster mom brushes me all the time and tells me how pretty I am. I ADORE and soak up attention. I love being petted too! My foster mom says I'm very smart and she thinks I'll be good at learning commands and other stuff. I'm also potty trained. I'm really just a happy go lucky gal. I also get along with other dogs. Because I haven't been very well taken care of, I do have some work that needs to be done on my teeth and a small mass near my cute tail needs to be removed. The nice guy and foster couple are going to have this all done before I get into my new home (I even got something called a blood/urinalysis panel). When I get in my new home, the vet thinks I'd do good on Purina NF or Science Diet K/D or Royal Canin. The vet saw some protein in my urine and would like to monitor this. She didn't say it was a huge deal. I also have early signs of atrophy in my legs, sometimes dogs without proper exercise and nutrition can get this BUT the good news is that I can definitely improve with regular easy exercise (like my walks), supplements, good nutrition and maybe some physical therapy. It's recommended that I don't go to a home with many stairs. I'm asking that you share me far and wide to help me find a new home. If you think I may be a fit, please email [email protected] and they can put you in touch with the person who is taking the lead in my rescue efforts (his name is Jonathan). Someone was telling me that dreams really do come true for dogs like me. Paws crossed it'll be my turn soon! Thanks & much love, Daisy
