About Pearl

(*Please note although Pearl is located in Bakersfield we are able to drive her to her new home and do a homecheck if you are in Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, parts of Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County as well as going to Paso Robles. Otherwise potential adopters would need to come to Bakersfield. All potential adopters will need to be available for a zoom call prior to adoption.* Meet Pearl! If you are looking for the sweetest dog whose greatest desire is to be hugged and loved on then look no further than little Pearl! Pearl is a 10 month old mix of Miniature Poodle, Bichon and unknown other breed. She weighs in at about 10 pounds, has soft typical Poodle curls and is hypoallergenic and non-shedding. Pearl has not had the greatest start in life and in spite of that is seriously the perfect girl. She was bought at 8 weeks old from a breeder by a couple who paid $1500 for her because they were told she was a mini-Goldendoodle and wanted a female to breed so that they could make puppies to sell. As she got older and it was evident she wasn't a mini-Goldendoodle they did a DNA test that revealed she was 57% Poodle, 13% Bichon and the rest all lumped into something called 'Super Mutt'. (Some of these tests are just terrible.) In any event they didn't want her if she could not be bred and at 10 months old decided to get rid of her. We suspect that she was crated outdoors. The previous owners also sold goats and other farm animals. The reason we think she was crated outdoors is because how joyous she is to be free to run and also because before they gave her to us they had her fur shaved down on her ears and around her eyes which lets us know that not only did she probably have significant matting but now that they have been shaved down you can see where her one ear was eaten away by flies. It is something you won't be able to see when her fur grows in. In her private rescue home she is in love with everyone. She cuddles with her Foster Dad and Mom and made fast friends with their two small dogs. She is exceptionally loving, not a barker, is great in the car and is a very good eater. She would be very adaptable to many different living situations. Her adoption fee includes: 1. Her spay 2. Current 5 way vaccine 3. Current rabies vaccine 4. Microchip 5. Starter Food 6. Harness and leash Her adoption fee is $550. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Pearl socialized with other dogs Some notes to consider before applying for Pearl 1.. Pearl is a 10 month old puppy. Please make sure that everyone is on board with a young dog who requires continued structure to make sure she is the best canine citizen possible.. 2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype/Zoom. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process. 5. We do not make appointments for people to just come 'see' the dogs available.
