About Winnie

Hi! My name is Winnie, I am a euthanasia save from a high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas. I was an owner surrender and placed on the euthanasia list due to simply being scared and hiding in my kennel. Luckily, STAR saw my post and saved my life! After decompressing for a few days in my foster home, I immediately started to open back up to the silly puppy I am. I love humans, outside walks, cuddling, playing with other dogs, and doing zoomies in my yard! Because I was abandoned at a young age, I am naturally very fearful of new places and loud noises, with patience and training, I should be able to overcome this easily and have already shown plenty of courage and improvement! As a result of my timid nature though, I will need a fenced in yard and/or leash walks till I build up my confidence. It is important to remember that I am a puppy still and will have puppy tendencies like all other dogs. When you leave me at home, I would prefer a sturdy kennel and minimal blankets, so I am not tempted to boredom chew. I will likely whine and try to escape my kennel as I adjust to being in a new home, but I eventually settle down and go right to sleep, I sleep through the night great as well! Being a puppy, proper exercise is essential for my development and mental health, once I understood my foster home was a safe place, I loved to start taking walks around the neighborhood; exercise and training are so important to my success as a young dog.
