About Sadie

Sadie is a 2 year old, 50 pound, Foxhound mix. Prior to coming into rescue, Sadie spent her life outside, on the end of a chain. Her owners surrendered her to the Iowa City shelter because she wouldn't hunt. Sadie failed her heartworm test at the shelter, and they reached out for help. We got Sadie into one of our foster homes. Sadie is very sweet and quiet. She seldom barks. Sadie is housetrained, walks great on a leash and likes car rides. Sadie does well with other dogs and needs another dog in her home to continue to learn from. She didn't know how to play or what to do with a toy when she got to her foster home. Sadie is learning by watching the other dogs in her home. She is painfully shy with new people and is learning people aren't going to hurt her or yell at her. Once Sadie trusts you, she loves you wholeheartedly. Sadie requires a fenced yard and another dog in her home to continue to learn from. Sadie has completed heartworm treatment following the American Heartworm Society's protocol and should test negative in 9 months.
