About Summer

Good with kids (what ages)? Uncertain, haven't had children around 8. Describe affection level: a 10 for sure, Summer is super affectionate once she trusts you. She's the happiest when I come home, and she shows her excitement only when I acknowledge it, meaning she won't jump on me or knock me down when I come in. I can put my stuff down and take my coat off, then I will let her outside and she zooms! She'll do a lap then run up to me, pouch and jump around, then do another lap, bring me a toy, and get her 'you're home' pets. She likes to be in my bed, get close and cuddle when I let her (when she's clean). She stays within 5 feet from me at all times, when I'm walking around the house so is she. 9. Describe activity level: Summer is an older dog I believe because she's not super playful all the time, she's a big fan of daytime naps. That's not to say she isn't playful in general because she very much is. She enjoys chewing on plushies and caring them around, and she likes the tug toys too and will play tug-of-war with you. Her favorite by far is the tennis ball, if you throw it she'll bring it back to you a good few times before she's done. She likes walks, we go every other day or so. 10. Describe play behavior: She plays gently but will definitely match your energy. If you want her to get rowdy she will but not on her own. Once she feels comfortable to be her goofy self she'll play however you want to. 11. What are the best adjectives to describe him/her and what makes these the best adjectives to describe them? She is very loyal and protective, she's quick to be alert and is a fantastic guard dog. 12. What are the dogs best qualities? I love how sweet and affectionate she is to me, and how quick she picks up common commands. She was already house trained and never makes a mess. 13. What are your favorite characteristics of the dog (cute behaviors and physical characteristics)? She's just a gorgeous dog overall, with the cutest face and the softest fur behind her ears. A quirk of hers is that she prefers head and neck pets to back, body, or butt pets or scratches. Here and there I try to cross that boundary to see if she's going to let up and every now and then she'll let me, but not always. It's cute to see her let her guard down and trust me for that moment. 14. What would this dogs ideal home look like? An Ideal home for Summer would be with someone who is patient enough to earn her trust, someone who's comfortable giving her space until she warms up to you. If there are multiple people in the house, her care should be split so she doesn't favor one person. With my cats, she's curious but hasn't injured them so she may work well in a cat household but probably not dogs.
