About Flower

Adoption Fee: $345
Australian Shepherd / American Eskimo Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Available for adoption in Northeast. Currently in: New Hampshire Name: Flower Type: Toy Aussie/Toy American Eskimo Mix Color: blue merle Sex: female Age: 18 months Weight: 7 lbs Neutered/ Spayed: spayed UTD on preventatives and vaccination. Yes. Ideal home: Flower's ideal home would be with an active female or females who can take her on hikes and adventures. She is small but mighty and has shown great stamina even on long day hikes. She would do well with a small or medium dog companion. She is friendly when meeting new dogs and loves to play but she prefers gentle play and becomes anxious if play gets too rough. Flower has mild separation anxiety and would benefit from a woman who works from home either part or full time. She does have a loud, yappy bark so she's not an ideal candidate for an apartment but she reserves her barking for when people come to the door or when she is left alone. Narrative: Flower's happy place is in the woods. She is a dog who forms a strong bond with one person. Once she connects with you, she's extremely snuggly and wants to be with you always. She has shown extreme fear toward all men and boys and will avoid them and cower. She is curious when meeting new women but still prefers to give them some space. She appreciates kids from afar but their noise and quick movements would be too much in a home with her. Flower has head tremors at times but the vet believes they cause no harm. She is currently taking eye drops for weepy eyes. Needs work on: Flower came with no prior commands but learned sit, down, stand, spin, touch and 'come close' - she tends to stay out of arm's reach of people so working on encouraging her to allow additional handling has been helpful. Flower has no bite history but she is very skittish around new people and will cower and shake. She will benefit from additional gentle socialization and training opportunities to form a strong bond. She may enjoy agility. Flower was not previously crate trained and would benefit from practice for safety. She is mostly potty trained but still has 1-2 accidents a day if not monitored. She does much better being on a consistent schedule. Not good with: Men, dogs who play too roughly, children; she may do okay with dog-savvy female teens 13+ in the home Excellent at: Snuggling, outdoor adventuring, playing with other dogs, alerting to visitors Favorite treats/ toy/ thing to do: Flower is a picky eater and after much trial and error it is clear she loves Freshpet food. When comfortable, she is treat motivated for soft smelly treats. She enjoys snuggling in her bed or next to her people. She will occasionally play fetch with toys in the house.
