About Johnny

Johnny is a classic, stoic German Shepherd. He is intelligent, alert, protective, and loyal. He is about 4 years old, neutered, and weighs about 75 pounds. Johnny loves to play with toys and loves to snuggle. Give him a bone and a rug and he'll be happy for hours. He just wants to be wherever his human is. You will not be disappointed with his loyalty to you. Johnny is a fun, happy, silly dog. He makes us laugh everyday! Johnny was rescued from a shelter in the south where animals are frequently euthanized due to overpopulation and lack of space. We don't know much about his background but likely he was isolated and not socialized. Because of this, it seems that Johnny would do best with someone who doesn't have a lot of guests/new people coming and going. While he loves his owner so very much, he is not keen on outsiders. Johnny is selective about which dogs he gets along with so the best fit would be a home where he is the only pet. We aren't sure about children, cats, or other animals but likely he would do best without those as well. If you are up to the challenge, he is responding well to e-collar training so that could be continued at his new home. Johnny needs someone that can guide him to appropriate interactions with other people and pets. He is well worth the effort! He is a joy to be around.
