About Ollie

Maltese / Westie
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

(*Please note although Ollie is located in Bakersfield we are able to drive her to her new home and do a homecheck if you are in Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, parts of Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County as well as going to Paso Robles. Otherwise potential adopters would need to come to Bakersfield. All potential adopters will need to be available for a zoom call prior to adoption.* Meet Ollie!! If you are looking to add a total lover to your home that wags his tail all the time then Ollie is your boy! Ollie is 5 months old and weighs about 6.5 pounds and is a mix (we were told) of Maltese and Westie (West HIghland Terrier). He has a soft coat that isn't wirey but is also not just smooth. As we have not seen his parents we can only guess that he won't be more than 15 pounds fully grown. The family that adopted Ollie from a breeder only had him for a month when they realized their daughter had some slight allergies to him so they decided to find him a new home. We were told that he came from a woman who had bred the parents and that he was the only one she couldn't get 'rid' of so they adopted him. Ollie is the perfect dog for a family. He loves kids and he loves cats as he is in foster care with cats as well as large dogs and small dogs. He tries to get the cats to play with him but so far no one has taken him up on that offer. He does love to play with other dogs as well. He is not entirely housebroken so he will need that training to continue in his forever home but he is learning the ropes. He is a very good eater and a great snuggler. His adoption fee includes: 1. His neuter 2. First 3 sets of vaccinations 3. Deworming 4. Rabies vaccine 5. Microchip 6. Harness and leash 7. Starter food His adoption fee is $450. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule. 2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city) 3. How many adults, children and pets in the household. 4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work. 5. Where your pet will sleep. 6. Dog breed experience 7. Have you ever had to give up a pet 8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Ollie socialized with other dogs Some notes to consider before applying for Ollie: 1.. Ollie is a 5 month old puppy who will require further training in regards to housebreaking and being the best canine citizen he can be. Please make sure everyone is on board with the responsibilities that come with having a young dog. 2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype/Zoom. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process. 5. We do not make appointments for people to just come 'see' the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
