About Lucy and Pepper

Lucy is a purebred Catahoula and Pepper is her best friend. Lucy is about 4 yrs old and Pepper is 11 years. Both of them came to our rescue as an owner surrender due to COVID changed her living arrangements. She rescued them both and had Lucy for 3 years and Pepper for over 8 years. They have been at our rescue for over a year now and the bosses have put them on a short time frame now to get adopted or they will put them down. The problem is Lucy has that natural Catahoula protective mannerism of her territory, so from the outside of the fence she comes across as a snarling and biting dog but when you enter her territory or if she doesn't have any kind of fence between her and the person, she is a lovable and energetic dog that loves to play fetch. Pepper and Lucy are bonded. Pepper does not adapt well to change and Lucy helps her through it, plus Pepper will not eat without Lucy. Pepper is good with other dogs but usually follows Lucy temperament about it. Lucy has done well with a few of our male, more submissive dogs. If there is any confrontation though she is easy to call off and she will be easy to train because she works for treats. Please give them a forever home together. They will give you endless years of memories.
