About Tobias

German Shepherd / Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

PLEASE HELP! POR FAVOR AYUDA! We are pleading for a foster to help Tobias. His advocates just need more time to find placement. Several options are being worked on! Of course if you want to adopt, Tobias wouldn't mind at all. Either way he would be so grateful! Tobias is your typical fun-loving dog who loves to run and play fetch. He is friendly, very sweet, super cute. He loves affection so you'll never be lonely. He is a joy to walk on leash, too! Background: From the south of the border to a Massachusetts rescue, and many stops in between, Tobias has yet to find a forever home. Tobias is a 7-year old, 75-pound German Shepherd / Lab mix who was found as a stray by a kind-hearted elderly woman. He lived with her in Mexico and when she moved to the U.S., she brought Tobias along with her after fruitless efforts to find him a home. She loved him too much to leave him behind. In Mexico, he played on the streets with other dogs and loved life. The woman could not find or afford an apartment that took dogs and so a rescue found Tobias a foster home with two other dogs and he was doing well but within short order he was moved yet again to another foster home with yet another new dog and a scuffle ensued. Now Tobias is left with no place to go. Can you picture the stacking stress of these major changes? Most rescue dogs need slow introductions to other animals, especially dogs who've experienced upheaval. This unfortunately looks like it did not happen. Tobias drew the short stick and was given an ultimatum. With no available fosters through the sponsoring rescue, he now has two 'choices' - the woman who originally saved him or death. The first option isn't possible because dogs are not allowed where she lives and Tobias is much too large to hide. The only alternative is surrendering him to a shelter where he'll be euthanized for the incident. It's so sad because it was the ONLY aggressive incident he was involved in and completely situational. He doesn't deserve to die. Tobias is very good with people! He may be dog selective if not allowed time for proper introductions but prior to going into the second foster home, had good experiences with other dogs and even enjoyed the dog park. Dog savvy kids 8+, simply because of his size. When settled, he's destined to be a dream companion. PLEASE help! Tobias needs a rescue hero asap.
