About Balou

Meet Balou !! Sweet and funny young lady is looking for her new home. (She's so much cuter in person than we can capture in photos!) Balou is a 5 month old female Chihuahua/ Dachshund mix. She weighs 13 pounds currently and should not get to much larger. She is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed already. Balou is happy little girl! She takes a short time to warm up to new places and then she loves everyone! She has been fantastic with other dogs. She loves to play and run around. She has not met any cats yet but would probably try to play with them. She has not been fostered with kids but we think she would do well with kids that were old enough to treat her like a dog and not like a toy. She is doing well learning her puppy training but still needs help working on it. She is picking up commands quickly and learning fast. She's done well on the leash and on car rides. She did very well for the vet. Potty training is improving but she is still not there yet. She still needs lots of training on that. She is okay in the crate but can be vocal about it. She is learning to accept it more each day. A good bone or kong filled with goodies helps her to settle quickly. Even though Balou is small she does need a family willing to play with her and help her get all of that puppy energy out in a positive way. She has a medium energy level. She is adventurous and playful. Once she gets comfortable with you she's all puppy! Full of life and oh so happy! She can be a bit yappy when playing with other dogs. She is a good mix of a playful puppy and a cuddly lap dog. She has not mastered fetch yet but does love soft toys to play with. We have not seen any issues with her sharing toys, treats or food with humans or other animals. Overall she's a cute, well rounded and happy puppy just waiting for her forever home!
