About Bear

Rhodesian Ridgeback / Black Mouth Cur
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I've had Bear for only 8 days. He needs a fenced yard to play in. He has a fairly high energy level. He gets greatly excited when he spots a squirrel or bunny. He's very anxious to please. He is a sweet and silly boy who loves to be loved and gives lots of love. I adopted him from a family, sight unseen. She was going to surrenderhim to animal control. I do believe the man of previous family treated Bear inhumanely. It took several days for Bear to feel somewhat comfortable with my husband. He hunkered down a lot and tucked his tail between his legs. He needs someone to teach him how to be a dog. I live in a two bedroom apartment and have a disability. The first 2-3 days Bear jumped up on me frequently and curved his nails into me. I am covered in bruises. He's a big boy but he doesn't know it. He never tried to intentionally hurt me. He's just a big boy. We are already in love with this big boy. Whoever gets him will be so lucky to have him. His previous owner stated Bear stands on his hind legs and 'dances'. How precious is that?! I had a man who wanted him. He asked for pictures. I sent him several. He wanted to come after Thanksgiving to get Bear. I told him I needed the name of his veterinarian to do my due diligence. I said I won't release Bear until I know he will be safe. Upon hearing this the man immediately backed out and no longer wanted Bear. I ask for a small adoption fee only to ensure Bear's safety.
