About Skye

Skye is a 14-month-old, 35-pound Border Collie mix. She is a quirky pup that plays well with other dogs but likely would not do well with a cat. Skye lives with three other dogs at her foster home. She is a little shy with new people but is very sweet and just wants to be with her people. Skye came into rescue from an Amish breeder. The breeder didn't sell all the puppies and threatened to harm her, so another rescuer got her safe and brought her to us. Skye was new to living in a home but has learned very quickly. She still gets scared of new things but just retreats to a safe distance to watch. One of Skye's personality quirks is that she is reactive to other dogs on the other side of a fence or out on a walk. On a walk she barks and wants to go meet the other dog. If she sees another dog thru a fence she bites at the fence. We thought we solved this issue at her first foster home. Skye shared a fence line with a Golden Retriever. We took Skye over to the neighbors and she met the dog she was biting at thru the fence. They played great together. We took Skye back to her foster home and congratulated ourselves for being smart enough to solve the issue. Skye went in and out several times with no issues until she saw the neighbor dog. Skye jumped the fence to go play with her new friend and continued to do it every time her new buddy was outside. We were not smarter than a Border Collie. Skye moved to a foster home with a 6' fence. The other quirk Skye has is that she absolutely loves water. If there is a baby pool or a puddle anywhere near, she is going to bound into it joyously. Skye is intelligent and learns quickly. She needs an adopter smarter than she is. A fenced yard would be ideal to keep her safe as she gains more experience in the world. Skye is housetrained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and microchipped.
