About LUNA

Border Collie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

In 'Foster-to-Adopt' program 'EXPERIENCED OWNERS ONLY, PLEASE!' 'LUNA' is an adorable, 1 yr. old, 25 lb. Border Collie female who was owner surrendered to the rescue due to owner health complications. Luna is a loving, sweet, smart, slightly mischievous and playful little girl. Ideally, a new home should have experience with and commit to 'agility training' work with her for both physical and mental stimulation this breed requires. Prior to coming to LFF rescue, she had minimal socialization with people and other dogs, so she is leery of new interactions with both. Luna has gotten better after time and familiarity, but this will be an ongoing incremental process a new home should be aware of and willing to commit to permitting to develop out on Luna's schedule. (We're happy to discuss this at greater length than this post will allow with anyone who inquires). Luna is very driven to please, and blossoms with praise. She also is very food and toy driven, which are nice additional tools in the training toolbox to implement and change up. Luna had been in a house with a toddler, though we believe a home with children 8-10 years old would be wiser, as with very little ones, she might get overly protective of them around strangers. Luna likes to be 'top dog', so a very submissive, easy going, gentle, slightly older, canine companion, would probably be the best fit for her and a household. Luna is very affectionate and adores snuggling. Luna is fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. (Her 'spay' appointment, due to Vet scheduling, is a few months away). This rescue does not do its own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
