About Astro

Adorable Astro is a Border Collie/Pointer mix (we think) boy of about 3 years of age. He is about 38 pounds which is a great size! He came to us from a hording situation in Abilene, TX via transport. He was living in a home with more than 40 dogs! Goodness! He and all his 'roommates' are slowly adjusting to being in living quarters with just a few dogs but are totally confused as to what happened in their life. Therefore they are quite shy at first. The home they were in just had women caretakers so they do warm up to women a little faster then the men. We have adopted out a couple of dogs from their group that were shy but have warmed up fairly quickly once in the home environment. Astro loves going into the back yard to run around and do his business, so we do recommend a fenced yard with at least a 6 foot no climb fence for him. He does walk fairly well on leash as one of our caregivers has had him out for a walk on a harness. He did not chase the cat or the ducks that were in the yard at that time. We aren't sure of his history with children so we are recommending slow introductions and families with children over 5. Astro is fully vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $300 and covers his transport and neuter surgery.
