PLEASE READ BIO IN ENTIRETY. FLORIDA ADOPTIONS ONLY, SHITHZU BREED EXPERIENCE ONLY. MUST HAVE YOUNG PLAYFUL DOG IN THE HOME NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO HIS REQUIREMENTS. Meet QTEE, he is a beautiful, friendly ~10 month old Shitzu Pekingese,a ball of fluff who loves having cuddles and will follow you around like a cloud on legs. He was surrendered by a family who had allergies, however he barely sheds despite having long hair. Recently neutered, he's happy and playful, and loves to tussle with his foster family. A family with another small dog(s) is a MUST as he enjoys company and will bond quickly. He's mostly housetrained, and knows to go outside. The occasional accident happens next to the door when he's left for long periods, but a puppy pad and continued training can help with that. General Behavior: A playful boy, who will follow you around and is a wonderful companion. As a puppy he's still learning with his teeth, and gently nibbles your fingers when he wants attention. He's getting much better and a firm 'no' will fix his nibbling, and a chew toy will help divert his behavior. (adoptive family must correct him firmly so his bad habit is fixed). He's happy to curl up by your feet most of the time, either when you're on the sofa or sitting at a table, but will seek you out at night and prefers to sleep on the bed. We have been able to crate train him, but he'll want to be in the room with you, at least. Likes & Dislikes: QTee loves cuddles, and will lay quietly near you when you're busy. He enjoys playing with his foster family, although other large dogs must be friendly and not territorial. He's active and playful, and will join in any games that others are playing. He wasn't so sure about treats at first, but has grown to love baby carrots. He eats well, with a mix of dry and wet food and is respectful and calm while others are eating around him. He tolerates brushing but has got better with some regular grooming. Training: QTee is almost housetrained. He knows where the door is and will hold it for as long as he can. Any mistakes are made next to the door, however he's quick to step outside and potty if you let him. We recommend taking him outside periodically during the day, preferably with grass (to reinforce his outside potty training). He knows how to sit (for treats) and responds to his name. Adopting family should continue with his training to correct his nibbling. He walks well on a leash and is happy to be outdoors when he can. Medical: QTee was neutered recently, and took his meds without issue by dropping them into his food. To our knowledge, no issues are present and he's a healthy little boy. Other Animals: QTee loves his fostered fur family, so another small dog is a must for him. He enjoys playtime and will instigate regularly so be ready for some playful bouncing and nibbling. Children: We've not seen any bad behavior around children, but as a gentle nibbler, we prefer NO small children. He never bites to hurt, but will pull at your fingers as a sign of playfulness, which should be corrected. Home: He's a great companion. QTee will find a happy spot next to you, and will spend his day resting by your side. He knows how to walk up and down a step to get onto the sofa, but will also happily sit at your feet. He's recently learned to go up stairs but isn't brave enough to come down yet, so you'll need to carry him down if you're heading that way. Grooming: He will need grooming every 4 weeks with dedicated effort to keep him looking good. His foster parents brush his hair everyday. He is VERY long haired and is fearless when it comes to walks, so regularly comes home carrying the garden in his coat. If I had one word to describe his coat it would be 'FLOOFY'. He's easily the most fluffy foster we've had, with fur that is like cotton wool. He'll sit calmly on your lap as you brush out his coat, which is recommended daily as he gets matted quickly. Overall: If I could sum QTee up in a sentence, it would be 'Floofy baby boy seeks lifelong fur family for cuddles, and companionship'. Our Best Fit for Adoptive Family. 1. Another small dog for play time. One that likes to play and does not show signs of aggression as Qtee scares easily when confronted. 2. Someone with time and financial stability for grooming every 4 weeks, yearly vetting and monthly prevention 3. Someone who isn't away from home for extended times. 4. Fenced Yard with grass to allow QTee to potty outside, and who likes walks.
