About Daisy

Adoption Fee: $250
Beagle mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Adopt a senior and get a sweetie! Daisy is a gentle Beagle who has the capacity to make a HUGE difference in someone life! Daisy's personality is best described as humble. She isn't one to make a fuss unless she spots you giving a treat to another pet. Then she bursts into action, waiting for her own treat! Daisy's rarely barks and is a very quiet dog. Therefore she could be a good condo, apartment or townhome pup if it was on the first floor as she has difficulty with stairs. Daisy is definitely a low-key kind of dog and needs someone with an easy going personality to match. Although Daisy is crate trained, she does not need to use the crate at all; she prefers her large dog bed instead. She does have potty accidents but is working on that training. She has never been interested in dog toys but occasionally will attempt to fetch a small ball. Daisy often enjoys having classical or relaxing music played and sometimes, you might find her 'doing a little dance' if she's really having a good day! Daisy enjoys taking several walks (~20 min) a day and sometimes she is just as happy to go out to potty and come back in to nap. When on walks, she loves sniffing every spot and has been known to sniff out a grub worm or two! Daisy doesn't mind other dogs, either but only minimally interacts with other canines. The days when her energy level is low, she is most content just napping or resting and enjoying her meals. Daisy is at the age where naps are often and awesome. Daisy does not require a fenced yard; however, we think she would love having one to freely explore but she also is quite comfortable on a leash. If you do decide to walk her on leash, be aware she can be a bit stubborn about where she wants to go, as is a typical Beagle trait! She enjoys all the attention you can give her! So much so she even loves all kinds of grooming and pampering. She really loves to be brushed often, bathed and having her nails trimmed. Daisy will also require regular ear cleaning. She never once has resisted any kind of personal care since being fostered; maybe she was a DIVA in a her younger years or previous life?? Her regular diet consists of dry kibble mixed with a little wet food and warm water. She will eat almost anything you give her but to keep her tummy happy, we have found sticking to the same food and treats is best! She is definitely a hound; Daisy's favorite time of day is feeding time! She gets fed twice daily with a few treats each day. Daisy weighs around 27 lbs now and is on a weight management dog food to help her lose a few pounds. Daisy walks with a slight limp when but this has been evaluated several times with the Vet and nothing has been discovered that might be contributing to this. Once she's up and moving it's less notable, Like any of us aging, we get a little slower. Daisy also needs a lot of patience with navigating stairs of any kind, so for that reason, a home that doesn't have indoor steps to navigate, is required. Daisy does need to be in a home where someone is available most of the day. This would not be a good fit for someone who works long hours or someone who doesn't spend much time at home. If you work from home or are retired, Daisy may be the perfect fit for you! DOB 07/29/2012. She is a 10 year old, 27lb Beagle mix. As part of Daisy's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
