About Stella

We got Stella 3.5 years ago from the Humane society when she was 3 months old. She was a very hyper puppy and very stubborn but sweet. We didn't know till after we adopted her that was previously adopted out, but the owners brought her back to the humane society because she was too much to handle. As a puppy we did a few sessions with a dog trainer. We had to get a training collar because she would be somewhat aggressive when she didn't want to do what she was told. Stella has always liked and listens to males well. She has a harder time listening to women and kids. She does not like water. Loves to go on walks but needs to be on a leash at all times. Loves to run and explore as long as enclosed in fenced area or with invisible boundary wire is set up. She loves to cuddle on the couch with the family. She loves to lay by the fireplace and take naps. She sleeps through the night without waking up in early morning hours to go outside to the bathroom. Averages 10 hours of sleep a night. A few months ago, we noticed that she was barking more aggressively when neighbors came to the door, even if she knew them. A week ago, our daughter had a friend over that Stella did not know and she was barking aggressively at her and acted like she was going to bite her. The next day my daughter's other friend, who is a neighbor, came over. As she came in the door, Stella started barking aggressively and bit her on the hand. We have no idea why she has been getting more aggressive, it seems to be territorial. Our kids are heartbroken that we have to get rid of her, but we can't have a territorial dog with kids. We believe that she would do well with a single male, or a couple that does not have kids. She loves our kids and kids in general, but we don't want to risk another kid being bitten again. Our chaotic house may just be too much for her.
