About Mamie

Mamie is a middle aged (6-8 years) Great Pyreness who came ended up in a shelter when her goat farming, dog breeding owners could no longer care for their farm and dogs. Mamie was positive for heart worm disease and had a large cyst on her side. It's taken awhile to get her ready for adoption because we had the cyst removed and got her the heart worm treatment she needed. Mamie is housetrained, cratetrained and fairly easy to walk onleash. She can and has lived with other dogs but she does not want playful dogs up in her face and cannot be expected to share her food. Mamie is happy and friendly and adores attention. She is looking for an indoor home where she will be part of a family, not a working home. She would be the perfect companion for an older couple who just wants one well behaved dog to adore! She weighs about 85 pounds. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
