About Keta

Tell me, tell me! What can I do to please you??! My name is Keta and I am the prettiest, inquisitive, loving, and intuitive cattledog-beagle mix that you'll probably ever meet. My small, 28-pound stature and athletic disposition make me a perfect partner for a human or family that is pretty active themselves. I love to hike, run free in wide open spaces, ride in the car with my head out the window, and dig in the water for special rocks. I even have my own life jacket to get out the water! Being half cattledog, I benefit from a strong pack leader that can show or tell me what needs to be done-I aim to please. I love to practice training-being food-motivated makes it really easy for me to stay focused. Between exercising and training practice, my favorite place to be is within arm's reach of a good pet or belly rub, or even kisses if you'll accept them! If you don't want me on the couch with you, that's okay, just tell me to go to my spot and I will watch you from there to see if there is anything else I can do for you. In my young life, I have lived a lot of places and met a lot of people. I really like people (even though I am sometimes so excited that I jump up to say hello), and I even like the littlest type of people. Even though I have been raised with my littermate sister, surrounded by love and cuddles and playtime, I really think I am meant to be in a household without other dogs. You see, I am so focused on pleasing my humans, that I get quite nervous around other dogs-even my own sister! I don't like the dog park-too many dogs-and I have been working on staying calm while seeing dogs while out on a walk. Some people call it reactivity, and that may be true, but all I know is that I want to feel secure in my position in the household and around other dogs, and I need a leader who can take the time to make me feel that way and a home where I can feel safe. Keta's parents here: As you can see, Keta is just an amazing, loving creature; this heartbreaking decision to seek another home for her will certainly leave a gap in our hearts. We believe, however, that she will have a much richer life in a home where she is the only dog and where interactions with other dogs are limited. We believe that this decision is also the most sensitive to the needs of the other dog in our home, and to the dogs in our family network that Keta will be subjected to for the rest of her life.
