About Lucky Ducky Do

Lucky (Ducky Doo) is a 100lb., male, German Shepherd mix, who will be 4 y/o at the end of November. He is loyal, intelligent, and kind. He is laidback as long as he's gotten some exercise. Lucky is a 'Clint Eastwood' type of dog. He will respect you as long as you respect him! He needs a strong, patient, and experienced handler. He loves to work, train, and play. He takes pride in his frisbee catching abilities! He would do best as the only dog in the home but has done well with female submissive dogs. No experience with cats, but I don't think he will mess with them if they have their claws. Lucky is the definition of 'Man's best friend' and will be extremely loyal to anyone he loves & respects. He was adopted by my husband from the Animal Shelter when he was around 6 months old. In the past, there was a lot of domestic disputes between us adults, which led this sensitive & bright boy to become anxious and unpredictable in the chaos. In his own way, I believe he tried to help- he will protect whoever he believes to be vulnerable in a chaotic situation and has been aggressive and bitten both adults. Currently, his owners are going through a separation/divorce. His human father did not express interest in taking Lucky with him, and his human mother needs to protect his human brothers. The question of why we need to give him up is twofold. One, we failed him as pet owners- we did not correct problematic behaviors and never followed through with getting professional help/training for him. Two, due to major changes in family dynamics, the environment has become stressful for him, which isn't fair to Lucky. He lost his best friend through the separation, who he was extremely loyal to; and he has started to express dominance aggression towards his human brothers. His behavior has become difficult to predict with his three human brothers (3, 7, and 11 y/o) and one hyper younger canine sister (1 y/o). Although he loves to spend time with them, Lucky has been both reactive and unpredictable in his attempt to 'correct' or 'protect' both his human and canine family. He has bitten all members of his family at different times for different reasons.
