About Shelby

Shelby was incredibly sad when we first met her. Hiding on the side of her kennel without the bed curled up in the corner, we didn't need to get close to see her struggle. Shelby was so skinny. She didn't look like she even had the energy to stand up or try to dodge our leash. Shelby was abandoned in a vacant lot with two other dogs. Who knows if her thinness was long term neglect for being without any food after abandonment. Or both. Shelby was easy to handle and a bit apprehensive about us at first. We won her belly over first with the allure of tasty treats. Shelby danced when we asked her to sit and didn't seem to know any commands but took the offerings with a gentle mouth. Once we had some fuel in her tummy, Shelby stuck close and allowed us to pet her. She wants to give and receive love. Shelby is on the market for the right person or family that is in it for the long haul. Come meet her at the CACC shelter in Chicago! Adoptions take place daily from 12p-6p
