About BUDDY

This is BUDDY! STATS: 6 year old male mini Schnauzer LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard HIGHLIGHTS: Very friendly and sweet boy! Buddy is a 6 year old, 14.6 pound handsome mini Schnauzer who was surrendered to us. He is generally a quiet, well mannered dog. Buddy is learning how to be a pet and he is responding very well! He is friendly and loving and wants to be by your side at all times. He is learning his name and will come to you when called. Buddy is excited when you return home and enjoys a good head scratch. He is not comfortable being picked up yet but he does like to be close to you. Buddy gets along well with the other dogs and would be best in a home with another small dog to play with and to have as a companion. He is in a foster home with a cat, but the two have not interacted so we are not sure how he will get along with a cat. (We can test him!) Buddy gets along very well with older children and would love to have a home with kids to play with! He is not the kind of dog a kid is going to be able to pick up and carry around like kids sometimes do. Little kids are not recommended because he has not been tested with them and we are not sure if they would be a good fit. Buddy has just started to learn about toys and is deciding he likes to play with them! He enjoys being outside running and playing and needs a fenced yard since he is not leash trained and can still be skittish. He is working on housebreaking and is doing well, although he does try to mark. That behavior should improve once he has his neuter, but he will need someone to work with him. Buddy does not sleep in the big bed in his foster home, although he probably would enjoy that if given the chance! Currently he has his own small bed beside the big bed for bedtime. Buddy has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. His neuter is scheduled this week at one of our vets and is covered by the rescue. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
