About Skipper

Skipper is fun loving and energetic boy. He does well at the dog park and doggy daycare. He is great with kids but has some manners that need to be taught. He loves to play with his toys and he would be a perfect agility/ Frisbee dog or hunting/herding dog. We'd prefer for him to go to a home that would keep him busy and give him lots of love and snuggles. While he was raised around our daughter, most of the time he is gentle, but he startles easily and as a result has lashed out at my husband and I when moving too fast around him. This worries me with him being around our 3-year-old. We have done everything we can for him to keep him happy. Routine, play, mental stimulus, and training. Even though he is an exceptionally smart dog, too smart I'll say, I think something happened to him before we got him and at times, he becomes too unmanageable. My heart breaks to let him go but I must protect my family first. Skipper has separation anxiety and refuses to sometimes eat/drink when we are away, so his perfect home would be someone that works from home or is home most of the time. Cooked chicken liver in his food helps. Skipper is a sweet and loving boy that loves his humans and loves to cuddle. In the right home, this boy will absolutely thrive. His perfect home will be a quiet home with no small children and a confident leader that has experience with herding breed dogs and will give him the exercise and play time that he needs.
