About Buddy

Buddy is a mixed breed dog who is around 2 years old and weighs about 55 pounds. He has been good with both large and small animals in his foster home. He is housetrained and has excellent indoor manner. Buddy is curious about cats and even though he is currently in a foster home with an outdoor cat, a home without cats would be the best match for him. Buddy has done amazing in his foster home since day one. He is currently living with two older dogs, one which is blind and he's a good foster brother to them! He likes to lay and curl up and sleep with them sometimes. He is left alone inside the home while his foster mom works all day and is completely non-destructive in the house. He does not like a crate and has a little anxiety when left in one. But since he has perfect indoor manners, there's no reason to use one anyway. Buddy needs someone who understands that it will take him time to adjust to a new house and a new routine. He walks good on the leash but would need someone who will continue to work with him. He does get a little nervous in new situations until he has time to adjustt, so it is best to slowly introduce him to new situations. His foster mom describes him as perfect in her house. Her only complaint is that he's a bed hog. He does fine with both men and women but seems to prefer his foster mom. He likes to follow her around when she's home. A fenced in yard would be best for Buddy so he can run off some of his energy or someone who will give him lots of exercise. Buddy is another one of the dogs we got from a shelter in Va that is killing almost everyone as soon as their hold is up! We have been putting in rescue offers 'of last resort' for all the dogs we can. That means, if another rescue will take them.....great! If not, we are the safety net that saves their lives! We sure are glad we stepped up to save this special guy! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
