About Cass

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Location: Marquette/Negaunee, Michigan area (49855/49866) %BD%BDs%BDWilling to drive up to 3-4hrs to meet for the perfect home! (Car can't make it further) Hi my name is Cass! I am a seven month old Australian cattle dog. My favorite things to do are play ball, run, and give kisses. I know some tricks already too! I can sit, lay down, leave it, speak, touch, and high-five! I'm still working on my stay and heel though. My mom and dad are very upset they have to re-home me as I am a good girl with SO MUCH potential! They just have too much going on with the new baby and weren't prepared for how high drive I am. Basics: Pros %BD'Vaccinated (owners will provide proof of vaccines) %BD'Loves water- 10/10 would live in water if she could %BD'Loves hiking and any and all physical activity %BD'Loves short bursts of training %BD'Extremely smart %BD'Lots of drive to learn and exercise %BD'sport(s) prospect- ball=life, high prey drive can be transferred to many sports, loves swimming, need for speed %BD'Great for an ACTIVE home Cons/Things to work on %BD'New owners need to spay her at appropriate age %BD''Backyard bred' but parents do work cattle- no health testing done on parents %BD'90% potty trained: sometimes has accidents if extremely excited or if not let out for more than 5-6hrs. She does let you know she has to go by going to the door. %BD'She is reactive and resource guards from other dogs and animals (hasn't shown it with people yet). Can't even play fetch with another dog- if they get the ball first, she will attack and usually bites the ears but stops when told. She will guard her bowl, toys, food, treats, kennel (even when not inside it), furniture %BD'Doesn't realize how rough she plays and is very mouthy (typical cattle dog) %BD'Sometimes will resource guard a person- but hasn't happened for a long time. %BD'Dog reactive/dog selective with both sexes %BD'She is way too rough with cats and doesn't listen fully to 'leave it' yet when it comes to animals (she listens when it's an object though) Posting for my brother and his girlfriend. They need to rehome their cattle dog puppy. They have a new baby and, yes, shouldn't have gotten a puppy. They realize this. They just want what's best for Cass now, and that would be an experienced and active home where she can preferably be an only dog or be with a confident and stable minded, large older dog. They prefer her to go to a home where she will be actively trained and given behavioral training to work on her reactivity. They would LOVE for someone into dog sports to take her. Sports I (Katie) think she'd do well in: bike-jore (any type of joring, really), fly ball IF she can get over her reactivity, disc, agility, dock diving, lure coursing. If interested, please email me with what your experience level is and how your home would be a good fit for Cass.
