About June bug

Great Dane
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Foster or foster to adopt family needed Meet June Bug. This gorgeous little girl is only about 100 pounds and around 6 years old. But you would never know it by the zoomies she gets! June came from a backyard breeder situation and found herself at the shelter. She was malnourished, heartworm positive, and clearly has had some puppies in her time. Because of this, June is understandably a little nervous sometimes. She is sweet as can be and LOVES her humans. She will likely pick one person to be her person and then she will be your shadow. She doesn't mind kids, but would likely be more comfortable in a home with teenagers who aren't as loud and unpredictable as little kids. After an unknown situation at the breeders, then landing in the shelter, she is distrustful of other dogs. She would prefer to be the queen of the house and not share it with another pet. She is cautious when she sees another dog on leash. She wants to investigate but won't bark or growl. But if a dog gets too close to her, she will warn them with a grumble. She is only okay if she is in charge of the interaction with another dog. Because of this, June would be happiest as an ONLY dog. June is very smart. She knows 'sit' and 'stay'. Sometimes, she will do 'shake.' She is food motivated so could easily learn other commands. She is working on her leash manners and is used to going potty on leash. She is crate trained, but may need to be bribed to go in there at first at her new home. Given her zoomies every time she comes out of the crate and apprehension of other dogs, June needs a PHYSICALLY FENCED yard - preferably a 6' privacy fence. Because June is still going through heartworm treatment, she is looking for a foster to adopt family that will pamper her while she finishes her treatment. She is spayed and UTD on all her vaccinations. We currently are open to qualified foster families in TN GA AL MO KY OH IN IL SC NC VA WV MD DE and can provide transport to these areas.
