About Sparrow

Sparrow is high energy and she loves to play! She longs for human companionship and likes to think she is a human. We took her in as rescue, as the family that originally had her, did not have the space or the time to care for her. We agreed to take her in as a foster. We love her, but she we are unable to keep her. She is a bird dog and she has killed a few of our chickens. She doesn't rip them apart, she just does what she was bred to do, catches them and breaks their neck, then drops them off to us. We tried to train her to not do that, but her instincts were proven to be strong. Time is running out, and we need to find her forever home. She is great with other dogs, as she has been socialized. She is great with kids, but not gentle. She will knock them over without realizing it (she is a large breed after all). She has never bitten, or even indicating to bite at any human. She is submissive when she knows she got into something she wasn't suppose to (as a puppy, she chewed up one of our garden hoses). She would be great to take on hikes, camping, and the lake. (She loves playing in water). We were told she was full bred, but we don't have any papers to confirm. We have had many professionals examine her and we have been told she is full bred, but could have a mix somewhere in her line. Others have told us she is Full bred lab all the way. She loves humans and goes to any human. She will only bark at a human when she is home and a new human comes over (She picked this up from our Aussie), but she will turn into a submissive little pup once they walk up to her, she will shower them with kisses and hugs. She loves playing fetch and she will bring back the toy. She complies really well for treats, and she also loves her toys. I am not sure if she is more toy driven or treat driven. Our animals are farm animals, so all animals are outside. We bring her and our other dog into the garage during cold/bad weather. Even though she is an outside dog, she can be trained to be inside. She is kennel trained. She isn't leash trained, as we live out in the country. We have taken her on the leash in parts of the city, she is curious about everything and leads the way. We are willing to travel to these states with no additional costs to the family that she is a good fit for: Wyoming, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado. With Utah's housing industry, the shelters and rescues are full and struggling to find forever homes for many pets that have already been surrendered. We are looking in Utah as well as outside of Utah in hopes to find a home for Sparrow.
