About Athena Marie

Ms. Marie is a 7 year old, 50lb, cattle dog / lab mix, in perfect health. She is up to date in all of her vaccinations and is microchipped. She knows basic obedience commands and will gladly learn more. She is house trained and knows how to use a doggie door.�%A0 She is extremely respectful of your belongings (furniture, shoes, etc) and has never been one to chew on anything other than her own toys. She does not 'table surf' for food or other items. She is too cautious to take something she wasn't given. She thrives in a routine and feels it is her job to alert you to every possible visitor (mail truck, UPS, or anyone approaching the house) and so, is a great guard dog. She spends most of her days sleeping in her bed, but likes to check in on you periodically. She loves car rides and going to the park. IMPORTANT We have worked with her and are very proud of how much she has learned, but Athena SHOULD NOT be around children.�%A0 She also does not like cats, but has the potential to get along with other dogs if introduced slowly. She will get possessive of her food dish if it is left unattended. For this reason, we do not leave her food dish out. She hates thunder and fireworks, but can tolerate them if you are with her. She is very cautious around strangers. She will bark at them, but will calm down if they don't try to pet her or talk to her. It takes about 2 visits for her to warm up. In her ideal new home, she will be the only pet and can spend most of her day by your side. Please let us know if you can provide a home for the sweet and loyal Ms. Marie.
