About Benny

Adoption Fee: $785.00
Golden Retriever / Poodle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

My name is Benny. I am a very large (95-pound) Goldendoodle; my foster mom likes to call me her little pony. I am obedient (mostly) to commands but when I meet new people the urge to get up close and hug them is almost irresistible. I am very sweet, get along great with other dogs, and am friendly to cats. We also have wild bunnies in the yard at my foster home and I love to calmly watch them. I am only 4-years old so I still have some youngster energy. When I arrived in my foster home, it took several days to exhaust me but now I am adapting to a quieter lifestyle. I am very smart and know several commands including, sit, shake hands, and lay on your (my) bed. I am house-trained and completely trustworthy to be left alone in the house. I also do well in a secure dog run, with no discernable separation anxiety. I am about 90% good boy and 10% curious. I walk well on leash but if there is something I want I will pull to get to it. With my large size I can generate a lot of momentum, so a harness and a firm grip when walking me are highly recommended. Fortunately, I want to stay close to my human so running off has not been a concern. I also do not bolt through doors and will wait politely for permission to proceed. My foster family thinks I have a cute personality. Some of the things that I love to do include taking naps while riding in the car, going to the beach, patiently watching the wild bunnies, playing with my foster sister, following my foster mom everywhere with loving anticipation of pets or trips outside, sleeping on comfy dog beds, and lounging in the warm sun. I also plan on being a loving addition to my new family. **Now, a word from my foster family: Goldendoodles are bred as a combination poodle and Golden Retriever and are known for their intelligence and hypoallergenic qualities to humans. People that have allergies to dogs generally have fewer symptoms with Doodles. Doodles come in three stages: F1 which is mostly Golden to F3 which is mostly Poodle. Benny is likely an F3 since he does not shed at all. Unlike other dogs, Doddles have hair which grows and needs regular trimming. 2-3 trips to the groomer per year usually maintains a healthy hair length. Doodles usually have very healthy skin and coat, but Benny does have allergies to certain foods, so he is on a prescription diet and medication to help his skin and digestive systems. ***** Adoption fee: $750 plus $35 microchip fee ***** Benny is being fostered in Portland, OR area. PACIFIC NORTHWEST and NORTHERN CALIFORNIA APPLICANTS ONLY: Oregon, Washington, Southern British Columbia, Western Idaho and Northern California. Please do not inquire if outside these areas.
