About MJ

MJ is a lovely girl. We adopted her when she was 11 months old. She came from a situation where her previous owner could not keep her and they gave her to a relative who kept her chained outside 24/7. A rescue group took her in and she came to us. Right away she had issues socializing with the cat and the other dogs, but we tried training and behavior modification. After 2 years she regressed back to being unpredictable and aggressive towards the other dogs and cats in the house. We have been to a behaviourist and MJ did take behavioral medication for 4 months (Zoloft). The medication still did not make a big difference. Basically MJ has been trained to wear a basket muzzle and wears it at all times except when we isolate her from the other dogs and let her play with her toys. MJ loves her humans. She is very playful and sweet. She also loves her kids which range from age 7 to 19 yrs. We would prefer she go to a home with without any other pets. We also feel it is best that she only be in a home with adults since she can be unpredictable with other animals and want to make sure that everyone stays safe. We want to make sure the home we find fully understands and has experience with a dog with these challenges. Our family is making a difficult decision to find a new family for MJ. We all love her dearly, but living in a basket muzzle is not a life we want for her. It is also not fair for the other pets in our house to be bullied.
